About Christopher Zara...

Welcome to my online portfolio.
If you break it, you buy it.

I'm a New York City-based writer and journalist who specializes in topics related to culture, entertainment and the arts. I was born in beautiful Trenton, New Jersey, a town known for its lush forests, sweeping vistas and exotic wildlife. I began my writing career shortly after moving to Orlando, Florida, where I wrote short plays and sketch comedy for local theater during the 1990s. Later, I went on to write and co-produce a slew of pretty cool short films for Sketchbook Productions, an independent movie company I co-founded with my brother, Fred, in late 2000.

In 2002, nearly fried from Florida's oppressive humidity, I migrated west—first to Seattle, then Los Angeles, and then back to Seattle—where I turned my attention to freelance journalism. Writing for Seattle magazine, the Northwest's premier monthly publication, I covered arts and cultural happenings across the Puget Sound region. Elsewhere, I tackled similar topics for national magazines like MovieMaker, Dramatics, and Emmy Magazine.

In 2005, I relocated to New York City, also known as the scaffolding capital of the world. I'm currently the managing editor of the performing arts trade paper Show Business Weekly.

I'm always available for freelance assignments. Please feel free to contact me via email with any questions or comments.
