Sketchbook Productions is an independent movie company operating out of Orlando, Florida. Founded in 2000 by Trenton, New Jersey, natives Fred and Christopher Zara, the company produces short films, videos and documentaries, as well as multimedia tools for performing arts professionals.

The Zara brothers began their filmmaking careers in 2001, shortly after receiving local accolades for their student film, Laugh Track, which chronicles the downward spiral of a sitcom junkie. The following year, the brothers produced the acclaimed short film Skippy Lightfoot's Perfect Day, a dark fable about a luckless hipster who is given the chance to experience 24 hours of perfection. Skippy was a hit with audiences at festivals around the country. Its success prompted the brothers to write a feature-length version of the film, which has since been optioned by Sodium Entertainment and L.A.-based Scantily Clad Productions.

Sketchbook Productions’ 2004 short film, Entering Wendy, continued in the offbeat tradition of Fred and Christopher’s previous collaborations. Wendy, which centers on an insecure writer who agonizes over whether or not to snoop in his girlfriend’s diary, features a cast of veteran Florida actors, voice-over work by Real Radio 104.1’s Dan Stone, and an original score by Seattle composer Ron Leonardi — with additional music by third Zara brother, Joe. Entering Wendy screened at several film festivals in the Southeast and nabbed a Special Recognition Award at the 2004 Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival.

Director Fred Zara continues to live in Orlando, where he also edits demo reels and designs websites for actors. Writer Christopher Zara lives in New York City and is an editor for the entertainment trade paper Show Business Weekly.
